Anti-frost 3-22 by the Tuscan company Aria

Overcoming maintenance and noise problems with the electric defrost fan

Electric fans produced by the Tuscan company Aria srl offer an effective solution to the challenge of late frosts and excessive noise, which can create inconvenience in farms. Company representatives will be present at the Interpoma trade fair (21–23 November in Bolzano, Italy), at the DARWIN WCDI B09/06 and B 1/28 stands. They will also be available at the Vinitech Sifel trade fair in Bordeaux, France (26–28 November), at the Terreco Hall 1 C 1204 stand.

Mr. Manuele Morelli, proprietor of Aria and design engineer, says: "Our latest innovation, the mobile Antibrina 3-22-C version installed on an agricultural trailer, is generating significant interest." "We have designed the only 10-metre-high mobile anti-defrost fan on the market. This model is mounted on a foundation plinth and offers the same performance in terms of coverage as our fixed fans, while retaining the flexibility of our mobile units. The innovative design also enabled us to create a highly compact machine, despite its considerable height. Once closed, it can be easily moved within the rows."

The decision to opt for an electric motor over a diesel one has been well-received by both Italian and international farmers. In addition to the noise reduction, there are clear advantages in terms of operation and maintenance. "The Anti-defrost 3-22 is driven by an electric motor connected directly to the rotor, eliminating the need for additional transmission parts. Our fan can be connected directly to the mains, or powered by a generator or tractor generator," adds Morelli.

The electric motor and lack of mechanical transmission parts eliminate the issues caused by lengthy periods of downtime, thereby significantly cutting maintenance costs. "An antifreeze fan is typically idle for extended periods, which can lead to damage and difficulty in restarting conventional motors, resulting in significant costs."

"Thanks to the technical solutions adopted, Antibrina 3-22 is one of the quietest anti-frost fans available on the market. Indeed, technical tests have shown that the noise level is approximately half that of traditional anti-frost fans.
Anti-defrost fans 3-22 are eligible for funding under a variety of government initiatives, including the Emilia-Romagna Region's programmes for the prevention of spring frost damage to fruit production potential and for agricultural production investments for the competitiveness of farms – resilient orchards. They are also suitable for Industry 4.0."
