Prevar announces the launch of GoodnessMe — a new apple variety resulting from over 20 years of research and development. What makes this apple so good? GoodnessMe apples are perfectly suited to their growing environment, featuring double-gene scab resistance, tolerance to mildew and European canker, and a natural skin bloom that offers protection against sunburn.
"We're excited to commercialize our first double-gene scab-resistant apple variety, bred by the world-renowned Plant & Food Research breeding program in New Zealand and licensed in Europe to Wouters Fruit," says Tony Martin, Chief Executive of Prevar.
Licensee Kris Wouters highlights GoodnessMe's high yields, resilience, and unique market position. "This variety sets a new standard for natural, resilient, and delicious apple cultivation. By embracing regenerative farming, we reduce pesticide use, enhance biodiversity, and support a healthier ecosystem, providing an apple that's better for growers, consumers, and the planet," says Wouters. Wouters Fruit holds the exclusive European license for GoodnessMe and is now seeking expressions of interest from growers.
European consumers can look forward to enjoying GoodnessMe apples from 2026. With a naturally crisp texture and refreshing flavor, these apples are a healthy snack, staying crunchy for longer. Officially launched at Interpoma in Italy last week, representatives from Prevar, Wouters Fruit, and Plant & Food Research introduced GoodnessMe to interested growers, who were among the first to taste this new variety.
GoodnessMe joins Prevar's portfolio of premium apples and pears licensed worldwide, including Rockit, Joli, Dazzle, Sassy, and PIQA Pears.
