"Shine Muscat grapes are cultivated across various domestic production areas, each with unique characteristics. In Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, China, Shine Muscat grapes ripen and become available at the end of August, which differs from the timing in Yunnan production areas. Grapes from Shanxi are known for their relatively stable taste and Brix levels," explained Mr. Lei from the Shanxi Yuncheng Yufengyuan Cooperative.
"The production season for green grapes lasts about a month, after which they are stored in cold storage. These grapes maintain good color and firmness in storage and are expected to sell until the Chinese New Year. This year, favorable weather conditions and the maturity of fruit trees have led to a 10% increase in production. The size, quality, and taste of the grapes are excellent, with more fruits exceeding 15 grams in weight and a Brix level reaching 17."
"The planting area of Shine Muscat grapes continues to expand, but sales volumes have not grown proportionally. The market is unable to absorb the surplus supply, resulting in significant losses for many growers. This year, the production area price is around ¥4–6/kg, nearly half of last year's price. Slow market sales have also dampened trader enthusiasm compared to previous years."
Regarding exports, Mr. Lei noted that this year's export prices are lower than last year. Export customers are more cautious, and single-order volumes have decreased. "Currently, green grapes are exported to Russia via land transport through Xinjiang Horgos Port. We are working to expand our export markets and attract more customers. Inventory levels are sufficient, and we can fulfill orders at any time."
In addition to Shine Muscat grapes, Yufengyuan Cooperative's main fruits include Hongxiangsu pears and yellow nectarines. The cooperative operates its own orchards, cold storage facilities, and processing workshops.
