First openings in 2025

Monoprix expands to Egypt

Already present in 16 countries, Monoprix has now announced its alliance with local franchise partner TMT For Food and Beverages to develop its presence in Egypt, "a market undergoing rapid change." The first shops are due to open in 2025.

Alfred Hawawini, managing director of Monoprix, is "delighted to be giving Egyptians the opportunity to discover the brand. Through this partnership, Monoprix wants to bring its vision of convenience retailing to Egyptians, by proposing an offer that meets both the expectations of Egyptian city dwellers and the quality standards for which the brand is renowned."

"Egypt has great growth potential, fuelled by increasing urbanization and a growing demand for innovative services. In this context, and to meet these challenges, Monoprix is leveraging its expertise in assortment management, store design and customer service, while TMT is responsible for operational management and adapting to the local market [...] This partnership is part of a development approach, with a direct impact on the local economy: job creation, support for Egyptian suppliers and modernization of local trade," according to the press release.

"Monoprix enters a key phase in its international expansion"
Monoprix shops in Egypt will offer fresh food products, local specialities and a full range of non-food products, including fashion, beauty, decoration and leisure.

With the opening of the first shops in Egypt, Monoprix is entering a key phase in its international expansion. The chain plans to open 15 to 20 shops a year from 2025, strengthening its presence in the region and worldwide. Monoprix currently has 140 shops in 16 countries and continues to expand its international footprint since its launch in Tunisia in the 1990s.
