B2B Meetings in Bergamo:

Italian retailers and wholesalers connect with International fruit and vegetable suppliers

The B2B meetings that will take place during the event "International business meetings with retailers" on the 23rd of January in Bergamo (www.freshplaza.com) will be attended by fruit and vegetable buyers of important Italian supermarket groups: Unicomm Srl and Tigros SpA.

Unicomm Srl is part of the Selex Group and one of Italy's most important national retailers. Their retail chains are Famila and Famila Superstore (supermarkets), Super A&O (supermarkets) Emisfero Ipermercati (hypermarket), C+C (cash&carry), HurrĂ  (discount stores). They are distributed mainly in the North East and Central Italy. The Group also includes numerous local participations and alliances developed through the franchising system. Tigros SpA is a chain of supermarkets located in northern Italy.

Each participating company will have its own agenda of meetings with Italian retailers and other foreign retailers participating in the meetings. In addition, the event is attended by wholesalers from the selected Italian markets (Milan, Bologna, Verona, Padua). These wholesalers distribute in the retail, traditional market, and Horeca channels.

After the B2B meetings between the participating companies and Italian retailers and wholesalers, the stay may be extended to visit the fresh produce wholesale markets of Milan, Bologna, Verona, and Padua. The fresh produce wholesale markets of Verona - Veronamercato - are part of Consorzio Zai and Interporto Quadrante Europa, a leading European infrastructure.

The most imported products in Italy are legumes-vegetables, citrus fruits, dried fruit, and tropical fruit. Among them, avocados stand out with growth both in volume and in value, and pineapples and bananas are mainly in value.

Italy imports more and more, even traditionally national products, such as vegetables and citrus fruits. Some consumers are getting used to the imported product as a complement to the range of the Italian one.
