It makes no difference whether it is an apple orchard, pear orchard, hazelnut grove or vineyard. For all intensive row crops, the Italian manufacturer BFM has designed two different inter-row machines that can be used for weeding (model BTP+DB12) and dry pruning (model CM-FF).
Fabrizio Bertoluzzo, owner of the design and manufacturing company based in Cuneo, Piedmont, explains: "Although these are two new products launched in recent months, we are receiving satisfactory feedback from the various Italian and foreign markets. Our aim was to widen the range of products available and to offer entrepreneurs innovative, professional, safe and user-friendly solutions. On the one hand, we propose an automatic inter-row mower for ideal row and inter-row cleaning thanks to the integrated mulcher and equipped with a wire for trimming without damaging the plant; on the other hand, we present a pruning machine with two overlapping bars (one fixed) capable of cutting up to 2.5 m."

The hydraulic mulcher is equipped with a 2m diameter rear roller, universal 3-point linkage, double linkage for lateral travel of 15-20 cm, independent levers, 3-speed belt drive and double gearbox with internal oiled freewheel, 540rpm.
The CM-FF, on the other hand, is a trimmer designed for dry pruning in orchards, characterised by a simple and light construction, ideal for flat terrain. Equipped with a toothed cutter bar and SCH blades, it is perfect for cutting branches up to 3-4 cm in diameter, guaranteeing a clean cut. The machine is available in different versions with different movement options and cutting heights to suit specific work requirements. The CMFF is supplied with a trolley for storage, an anti-shock safety system, independent lever control and a safety blade guard for easy and safe handling.

For BFM Italy, exports make up half of the business. "Twenty per cent of our sales go to the United States (mainly Oregon), 30 per cent to Europe (mainly Spain, Portugal, France and the Eastern countries) and the rest to Italy. Other markets include South America and the Middle East. There are currently 25 models of agricultural machinery in production," concludes the manager.
