UK: Asda and Aldi slash prices of Christmas veg further to 8p
Competition between the grocer's this Christmas is in full swing as Asda and Aldi look to offer the cheapest key festive veg lines, lowering prices to just 8p. Last week, Asda slashed the prices of Christmas veg to 15p, however, from 19 to 24 December, this will be dropping further to 8p each across its 1kg carrots, 500g sprouts, 360g broccoli, 500g parsnips and 2kg potatoes in-store and online while stocks last. At the start of the month, Aldi also cut the prices of festive veg staples to 15p as part of its Christmas Super Six promotion. From 19 December, 1kg of carrots, 500g parsnips, 500g Brussels sprouts, 2kg white potatoes, red and white cabbages, and broccoli will be available for 8p.

Saigon Co.op has stockpiled more than 12,000 tonnes of essential goods traditionally consumed for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in late January, or 30-50% higher than normal.
