Spain wants to open the Argentine market for apples and cherries, and export cherries to China

The Ministries of Agriculture and Economy, together with the fruit and vegetable sector, will continue to work in 2025 to open up new international markets for Spanish produce. The Fruit and Vegetable Group is made up of representatives from both ministries and sector organizations and aims to facilitate access for Spanish exports to countries such as Argentina and China. In particular, they are negotiating the export of cherries and apples to Argentina, and the opening of the Chinese market for Spanish cherries.

In 2024, work was carried out with more than 16 countries on all continents, managing more than 26 priority products. In the Americas, the country negotiated with Canada to export cherries, Colombia to export persimmon, and Chile to export citrus fruits and apples. In addition, it is negotiating with the United States to open this market for Spanish nectarine, peach, plum, pear, and apple exports. In Asia, negotiations are underway with China to open its market for cherries, and with Japan for citrus exports.

This Fruit and Vegetables Group is made up of the Subdirectorate General for Foreign Trade Inspection and Certification of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, and sectoral organizations such as FEPEX. Since its creation in 2012, the Group has held 25 meetings and will continue working to expand the market for Spanish fruit and vegetables.
