Producers and representatives of the main fruit and vegetable associations in France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, together with officials from the administrations of the four countries, are starting the 2025 contact groups this January. The first meeting of this year will be on citrus and will take place from January 20 to 22 in France.
Bastia, in Corsica, will host the first meeting of this year, which is being organized by the French sector. France will also host in April the garlic group's and the pear and apple group's meetings.
Italy will organize the strawberry group in February, and the tomato group in March. Portugal will oversee the peach and nectarine meetings in May, and the table grapes' group meeting in June.
In March, Spain will host the fourth range group, as well as the plenary session of the Joint Committee, which will take place next October, according to the organizational forecasts made by the Ministries of Agriculture of the four countries, in collaboration with the agricultural attachés of the Embassies and sectoral leaders.
According to Fepex, the Joint Fruit and Vegetable Committee is a framework for work and understanding between sectors, with interests that do not always coincide but with common objectives. This is why it has promoted and participated in practically all of the Joint Committee's contact groups and plenary sessions since its establishment in 1997.
