Indian State government raises minimum support price for local fruits in 2024-25

The state government has revised the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for specific fruit categories for the fiscal year 2024-25, targeting equitable compensation for local fruit cultivators. The MSP for 'C' grade Malta is now established at approximately $0.12 per kilogram, an increment from the previous year's $0.11. Concurrently, the MSP for Hill Lemon (Galgala) has been adjusted to roughly $0.085 per kilogram, up from $0.073.

Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi has ratified these adjustments, with formal declarations to be disseminated shortly. Joshi acknowledged Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's support, highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing farmer welfare and income through these MSP adjustments. Additionally, Joshi noted that such measures, alongside other welfare initiatives, aim at not only securing fair pricing for fruit producers but also at elevating the profile of local fruits and fostering comprehensive growth in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
