The harvesting and sale of Limoré brand lemons is now underway

The 2024/25 Limoré lemon campaign has officially begun, with the harvest of the Rocca Imperiale lemon beginning on Saturday, 21 December 2024. The producers' consortium made the strategic decision to postpone the initial harvests by two weeks, allowing the fruit to attain optimal coloration and ensuring the delivery of a premium product to both domestic and international clients.

"This year, we expect to harvest approximately 1,800 tons of product, marking a 25% growth in member volumes. Within the next 3-4 years, we anticipate a tripling of these quantities, driven by new plants entering production. Sixty-five percent of the lemons on trees are already of excellent size, while the remaining product is of medium/small size, due to the prolonged drought," says Pietro Buongiorno, the president of the Consortium of Associated Lemon Producers, an organization that currently has 10 contributing members.

The Limorè Consortium is optimistic about the commercial debut. The number of supermarket signs and distribution platforms supplied is rising sharply, from 12 chains in the previous season to 21 in 2025. "We are already seeing increased orders compared to the same period in 2023, but what is particularly gratifying is the interest from new customers. The Limoré Consortium's strategic focus on a premium product segment is proving to be a sound decision. In a highly saturated and complex market, the only viable approach is to diversify sales strategies. It is no longer sufficient to have a visually appealing and palatable product; we must incorporate what is known as corporate storytelling. Consumers are becoming more discerning and informed before making purchasing decisions."

"We have started shipping to Italy and France, with plans to expand to Switzerland, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Norway, and Denmark. We plan to start handling international deliveries in mid-January 2025. Exports to destinations outside the European Union will be directed to Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia. In these countries, we expect to increase export quotas by 30 percent compared to last year."

The consortium is increasing the number of personnel dedicated to harvesting and packing. In 2025, it will be equipped with a new state-of-the-art processing line with a capacity of about 8,000 kilograms of product per hour.
