The 2024/25 season, which started at the end of August with the early cultivars, is not yet over for Italy's leading pomegranate producer Masseria Fruttirossi.
"We have just over 1,000 tons of produce left to market," comments sales manager Dario De Lisi from the Apulian facility. "According to the forecasts, which have proved reliable so far, we will be able to guarantee supplies until the first ten days of February. Of the nine controlled-atmosphere units that were full at the beginning of December, three still remain to be opened. We have to take note of a constant and considerable decumulation of stocks. However, unlike in previous years, there was not that typical Christmas enthusiasm, except for the last 10 days of December. This trend also seems to have affected other fruit and vegetable products, except for grapes, which benefited from a rush to buy the last available refrigerated volumes."
The company boasts over 400 hectares of pomegranates, including 30 hectares planted in 2024. Almost 90% of the orchards are planted with the Wonderful variety. "The 2024/25 season will be our record year in terms of processed volumes, and we are looking forward to doing even more. In fact, already as of the next campaign, we are expecting a gradual increase in quantities from both the young and the more mature plants, with more produce to be stored and sent to the supermarkets," explains De Lisi
"In recent weeks, new customers have joined us in addition to the historical buyers not only in Italy but also in Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Germany, destinations that continue to appreciate our ability to stretch the commercial calendar for about 6 months of the year, with a short supply chain product. We ship 250 to 300 pallets every week."
Masseria FruttirossI will be attending Marca 2025 (15-16 January) for the third time in Hall 29 - Stand C59.
