"How to ensure the right weight without giving away more product"

A new technology for weighing baskets with a guaranteed minimum weight has been developed by Zetapack, a company based in the Italian province of Forlì-Cesena, in the Emilia-Romagna region, and will be presented at Fruit Logistica. The machine is part of the AGV50 range launched by Zetapack in the last few months of 2024, which has attracted great interest both in the Italian and foreign markets.

"Participating in exhibitions of this dimension is an important opportunity for us to showcase our technologies and interact with old and new acquaintances," explains Zetapack CEO Nicola Antonacci. "The reason for this success is that today it is increasingly important for companies to minimize any excess weight and avoid losing a few extra grams per pack. This is why we decided to develop this new system."

The AGV50 weigher has been designed to make things as easy as possible for companies, with a tool that can handle different types of vegetables (from tomatoes on the vine to courgettes, aubergines, fennel, etc.), while guaranteeing weighing accuracy and gentle product handling.

The system consists of an upstream checkweigher that records the passage of each pre-filled pack. After weighing, the basket is sent to the 18 buckets that seek the best available combination to obtain the set weight. This makes it possible to work at a speed of 35/45 baskets per minute (depending on the product being used), using 2/3 operators.

The reduced size of the machine body, 5 meters long and 1 meter wide, is another advantage. The possibility of adding wheels under the structure makes it even easier to position the machine in any warehouse.

"If you would like to see the AGV50 weigher in action, we recommend that you visit Zetapack at Fruit Logistica in Hall 2.1, Stand C-23. We'll be happy to explain the many technical features and show you the machine in action," concludes Antonacci.
