A group of fresh produce exporters from South Africa will showcase their products at the South African National Pavilion during Fruit Logistica Berlin 2025. Their participation is supported by the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (DTIC), which aims to enhance South African exports and global market access.
Fruit Logistica is a major annual exhibition and a leading international event for the fresh produce trade, focusing on unprocessed fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, nuts, and herbs. The event covers all aspects of the fresh produce supply chain, providing a platform for innovation, product showcases, and industry services. With exhibitors from over 140 countries and approximately 60,000 visitors, it is regarded as one of the most influential trade fairs in the fresh produce industry, offering significant networking opportunities with key decision-makers.
According to Ms. Lerato Mataboge, Deputy Director-General of Exports at the DTIC, exports play a crucial role in South Africa's industrialization efforts. She emphasized that Fruit Logistica Berlin is one of the DTIC's flagship national pavilions in Europe, providing an important platform for South African companies. During the country's last participation, export sales at the event and in the six months following it exceeded R400 million.
"The support provided to these firms aims to expand their export capacity and global market access," Mataboge explained. "The South African National Pavilion at Fruit Logistica Berlin 2025 will help promote the country's fresh produce sector and offer participating companies opportunities to connect with key industry players."
The South African stand at the exhibition will serve as a hub for industry professionals, potential partners, and investors to explore collaboration opportunities, including joint ventures and agency partnerships.
Mataboge further noted that Germany's climate, rising prices, and increasing demand for new fruit and vegetable products present a strong opportunity for South African fresh produce, particularly during the off-season when European production is lower.
