Although the kiwi season in Greece has wrapped up for the most part, the past season has been positive compared to the seasons that came before it, says Dimitris Tzounopoulos, sales manager for Greek kiwi exporter A.C. Meliki. "The Greek kiwi season has been a very good one for the producers of the fruit. The first part of it being a positive season is that we received larger quantities compared to the last few years, which is naturally a positive. Most of our kiwis are exported to the European market, but we have begun with loading kiwis to export to the Brazilian market as well."

Tzounopoulos has noticed an increase in interest, especially during Fruit Logistica last week. "The Greek kiwi is doing well in terms of popularity among our clients, which has to do with our consistent quality, so our clients know what to expect when they order kiwis from us. During Fruit Logistica, we noticed a lot of interest from new markets, such as Israel, Brazil, and the United States of America."
The kiwis come in various packaging
A.C. Meliki has been investing in equipment for its facilities, on a yearly basis: "Overall, we're constantly developing as a company. Every year, we spend a lot of money on new equipment for our kiwi facilities. We hope that the next few seasons will be as positive as the last one has been, especially with the potential of these new markets in mind," Tzounopoulos concludes.
