Mango producers in Nashik district, India, are expanding into European markets following their entry into the American market last year. With mango cultivation joining grapes, pomegranates, and onions in export production, more farmers are focusing on export-quality mangoes.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has introduced the Magonet online system for registering mango orchards, akin to the grape orchard registration process. This step is necessary for exporting mangoes to the European Union and other international markets.
As of today, 9,459 mango orchards from Maharashtra have been registered for the 2024-25 season. Initially, the Magonet system's registration deadline was set for December 31, 2024, but it has been extended to February 28, 2025. Farmers aiming to export mangoes must apply using the prescribed Form 1. Subsequently, an inspection officer will evaluate the orchard and submit a report (Form 4A) to the District Superintendent of Agriculture Officer.
Mango cultivation is increasing in Nashik, particularly in talukas like Dindori, Peth, Surgana, and Igatpuri. Farmers in these areas interested in exporting are advised to complete their registrations. In-charge District Superintendent of Agriculture, Jagdish Patil, has encouraged mango growers to reach out to their respective Taluka Agriculture Officers for guidance in the registration process.
