The 34th International Blueberry Seminar is underway at the Lima Convention Center on March 12 and 13, drawing key players from the Peruvian and international blueberry sectors. This annual event underscores Peru's position as the leading global exporter of blueberries, contributing over USD 2 billion to the industry and national GDP while supporting employment across various production regions.
More than 1,000 stakeholders, including producers, entrepreneurs, investors, and technicians, are participating in a comprehensive program addressing agronomic and commercial aspects of blueberry cultivation. The seminar features a high-level panel discussion with Angel Manero Campos, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Miguel Bentín, president of Proarándanos, and Gabriel Amaro, president of the Association of Agricultural Producers' Guilds of Peru (AGAP).
Minister Manero acknowledged the industry's resilience, stating, "The blueberry industry has taught us Peruvians that we are capable of facing any challenge and winning." The event also explores diversification opportunities, with discussions on cherries as a crop of interest for Peruvian producers.
