Pastry chef Noëmie Honiat chosen as ambassador

The season looks promising for Red Label strawberries

The Red Label strawberry from Lot-et-Garonne launched its campaign at the Paris International Agricultural Show 2025, accompanied by an ambassador of choice, pastry chef Noémie Honiat, a Top Chef finalist. In 2024, production increased, with 557 tons of Red Label strawberries (produced by 100 growers), compared with 510 tons in 2022. The 2025 campaign also looks promising.

"Red Label strawberry prices are set to remain stable this season"
The Association of Lot & Garonne Fruit and Vegetables (AIFLG), which is responsible for developing the quality and value of Red Label strawberries (varietal policy, compliance with specifications, and promotion of quality), announced the first shipments of strawberries last week. The four emblematic varieties - Gariguette, Ciflorette, Charlotte, and Mariguette - will arrive on the shelves (80% of Red Label strawberries are sold in supermarkets). Production was up in 2024 (557 tons, compared with 510 tons in 2022), and the 2025 season "looks promising despite the wet winter," according to AIFLG. Most strawberry plants are grown on a substrate, which provides extra protection against the vagaries of the weather, particularly frost, hail, and excess water. This method of production allows producers to better control growing conditions and to guarantee quality harvests, even in the face of weather hazards. Light remains a key factor, so the cold but sunny days in mid-January helped the plants to develop well and ensure excellent strawberries.

"Prices for Red Label strawberries are expected to remain stable this season, with a price range between €12 (13.1 USD) and €18 (19.6 USD) per kilo, or around €3 (3.3 USD) to €6 (6.5 USD) per 250g tub."

Strict specifications
Red Label strawberries comply with 49 strict specifications. "It has an ideal sugar content, even coloring, optimum size, and incomparable flavor. This label recognizes the unique agricultural expertise of the 100 producers of the Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne departments, who are committed to the Red Label approach in this historic region of French strawberry production." In 2024, 557 tons of Red Label strawberries were produced on 500 hectares, representing sales of 90 million euros (97.95 million USD) and supporting 3,000 jobs in the sector.

Top Chef finalist Noémie Honiat, ambassador of Red Label strawberries
