In February 2025, Peruvian fresh asparagus exports increased in volume but decreased in value as prices fell. The country exported 1,930 tons, 18% more than in February 2024. However, the total value stood at $5.73 million, 16% less than in the previous year. The average price fell to $2.97 per kilogram, i.e. a 29% drop compared to February 2024.
Peru exported asparagus to 25 countries. The Netherlands remained the main market, with 690 tons worth $1.9 million, accounting for 33% of the total. Exports to this destination increased by 10% but their value decreased by 42% as the average price went from $5.19 per kilogram in February 2024 to $2.77 in February of this year.
The United States, the second largest buyer with a 29% share, purchased 648 tons increasing its import volume by 40% over the same month of last year. The value of exports stood at $1.6 million (+28%), and the average price stood at $2.56 per kilogram, i.e. 8% less than in 2024.
Spain was the third most important market with a 21% share, 341 tons (+2%) worth $1.2 million (+3%), and an average price of $3.46 per kilogram, similar to that of 2024.
