First shipment of Guatemalan Banarica bananas arrives in Spain

The first shipment of Banarica bananas, grown in Guatemala, has arrived at the facilities of CMR Group. These bananas are cultivated in the Pacific region, an area characterized by a warm and humid tropical climate that supports favorable growing conditions.

Banarica bananas are known for their distinct characteristics, including a high level of sweetness and soft texture. The production region contributes to the bananas' specific aroma and juiciness, attributes that are now being introduced to the Spanish market.

With more than three decades of experience in banana cultivation, the producers of Banarica bananas follow a series of internationally recognized standards. The bananas are Global GAP certified for good agricultural practices, Rainforest Alliance certified for responsible production, SCS certified for sustainable cultivation, NSF certified for public health compliance, and also carry World Compliance Association certification.

Before export, the bananas are stored in a cold storage facility in Puerto Barrios to preserve quality. The complex includes a refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of 7,000 pallets, five independent cooling chambers, eight pre-cooling tunnels, and pressurized tunnels capable of handling 384 pallets. These measures aim to ensure the fruit maintains its quality throughout the shipping process.
