The 2024 Australian avocado harvest was a bumper one for most growers according to Alison Tolson from Avorama, based in New South Wales.
"We had good crops and good prices last year," said Alison. "As avocados tend to be bi-annual, the 2025 season volumes are looking to be 20% down on last year."
"Fruit sizing was varied across the growers, however, growers are constantly working towards achieving fruit in the optimum size range for retail, but on the whole fruit size was better than previous years."
Alison said that there were no major weather events during harvest: "Conditions were dry making harvesting a lot easier and consistent."
Cyclone Alfred
"We have not suffered any damage from Cyclone Alfred. The Stuarts Point area received less than 100 mm of rain, whereas other growing regions received up to 500mm NSW."
