Orange prices drop 9% in Italy, remain stable in Portugal and rise in Spain

Orange prices in Italy have remained the highest among the countries observed, despite a notable decline in recent months. In December 2024, prices stood at €142/100 kg, dipped slightly to €140 in January, and then dropped further to €129 in February. Although still well above the five-year average, the downward trend may indicate a shift in market dynamics or seasonal supply adjustments.

In contrast, Portugal has shown more price stability during the same period. Orange prices remained steady at €81/100 kg in both December and January, with a slight increase to €82 in February. Compared to the sharp decline in the 2023/2024 season, current figures reflect a more balanced market. Prices remain above the five-year average, highlighting relative resilience in the Portuguese market.

Spain recorded a modest upward trend during the winter. Prices rose from €76/100 kg in December to €79 in January and €81 in February. While this remains below the previous season's levels, it signals a gradual recovery. The seasonal increase coincides with improved demand and slightly firmer market conditions.

Meanwhile, Greece continued to see the lowest orange prices among the countries reviewed. Prices fell from €52/100 kg in December to €50 in January and declined further to €49 in February. This downward trend puts current prices below both the previous season and the five-year average, suggesting weaker market performance or higher supply pressures in the Greek market during this period.
