Kyrgyzstan plans to expand agricultural exports to China

Kyrgyzstan is expanding its exports of fresh produce and dried fruits to China, supported by the launch of a new control warehouse in Ulugqat. This facility will streamline customs procedures, quality inspections, and storage, making it easier for Kyrgyz farmers to access the Chinese market.

"Previously, there was no such trade and logistics center where our products could be sorted and packaged. Thanks to this warehouse, customs clearance will be fast, and document checks will take only a few hours. Additionally, the facility includes laboratories for phytosanitary, veterinary, and quarantine inspections, ensuring compliance with Chinese requirements. There are also refrigerated storage facilities where our farmers can keep their products until all necessary permits are obtained," explained Marat Asypbekov, Deputy Director of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine.

The facility, handling 1M+ tons annually, is divided into four zones: vegetables, frozen goods, laboratories, and general cargo.

In 2024, Kyrgyzstan has already exported fresh cherries from Batken, wheat flour, and walnuts. Moving forward, the country aims to increase shipments of melons, soybeans, and grapes, as well as potatoes, berries such as strawberries, currants, and raspberries, and a variety of vegetables and dried fruits.

Before approving exports, the Ministry of Agriculture ensures that domestic food security is maintained. Farmers interested in selling to China must submit an application specifying the type of product, volume, and expected delivery timeline. Once the necessary approvals are obtained, shipments will be processed through the Ulugqat warehouse and distributed across China.
