"The lime market has been very challenging over the past two months," says Rene Bouman of Fruit Market International (FMI). "Excessive volumes from Brazil—especially limes from the south, which are of moderate to poor quality—have put significant pressure on prices. The bad weather in southern Europe hasn't helped the situation either."
"For the coming period, there are sufficient limes available in Brazil. Hopefully, the domestic market in Brazil will also pick up so that fewer limes will be exported. To get out of this impasse, it's essential that volumes decrease," the importer said.
