Australian avocado season launches in Asia with Malaysia roadshow

This month, Australian avocados were introduced at the Selayang Wholesale Market in Malaysia, marking the launch of the Australian Avocado season across Asia. The event included wholesalers, importers, and industry stakeholders celebrating the arrival of Australian avocados.

The roadshow began in Kuala Lumpur on March 3, followed by Singapore on March 5, and concluded in Hong Kong on March 7. Official openings were conducted by Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, Simon Fellows, Agriculture Counsellor, Dr. Kate Makin, and Trade Commissioner, Gregory Harvey. Australian growers participated, showcasing avocados at fruit stands.

Kym Thiel, Avocados Australia's Tristate Director, presented at the Hong Kong event. After the Selayang launch, an exclusive networking and workshop session took place at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This session included 69 stakeholders from the supply chain, such as importers, wholesalers, and retailers. Attendees received market insights and updates on support initiatives aimed at enhancing trade opportunities.
