Morocco Tomato Conference 2025 takes place on May 21st in Agadir, Morocco

The Morocco Tomato Conference (MTC) will take place on May 21, 2025, in Agadir, Morocco's hub for greenhouse agriculture, at the Palais des Congrès Les Dunes d'Or. This event, held under the patronage of the Interprofessional Federation of Fruits and Vegetables and the Chamber of Agriculture of the Souss-Massa Region, is organized by Green Smile, a committed advocate for sustainable agricultural solutions. It aligns with the organization's ambitious and results-driven strategy to support high-value agriculture in Morocco and Africa while advising businesses on their strategic development in these promising markets under the slogan #GrowingSuccess.

The 2025 edition of the Morocco Tomato Conference is set to be a high-level strategic platform featuring national and international speakers, a program rich in technological solutions, and partnership opportunities. Renowned speakers such as Peter Klapwijk (2Harvest – Netherlands), Paolo Batistel (Ceres – Morocco), and Laura Fry (Kantar Worldpanel – United Kingdom) will share their expertise and highlight global growth drivers for the tomato sector.

The event aims to explore emerging trends such as sustainability, resilient varieties, and smart farming, facilitate networking between producers, industry leaders, suppliers, and researchers, and offer comprehensive support—from strategic concept development to full event logistics in Morocco, across Africa, and internationally.

Since its inception in 2009, MTC has stood as one of the first national platforms dedicated to the tomato industry. After three editions from 2009 to 2011, gathering nearly 1,000 participants and international experts, Green Smile shifted its focus between 2012 and 2023 toward agribusiness training programs, particularly in soilless cultivation and input optimization.

This decade-long capacity-building effort laid the foundation for a structured ecosystem ready to tackle the challenges of innovative, sustainable, and competitive agriculture. The 2024 edition attracted participants from over 15 countries and around 600 attendees—paving the way for MTC 2025, fully aligned with local, continental, and global market trends.

The global tomato market continues to expand, driven by growing demand for fresh, healthy products, the rise of greenhouse and soilless farming, and expanding export markets, especially in Europe and Africa.

The Souss-Massa region, known for its greenhouse production, is Morocco's main tomato export zone. Morocco ranks among the top five global exporters of fresh tomatoes, competing with the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, and Turkey.

Selected for its central role in Morocco's tomato sector, the Agadir region symbolizes MTC's deep roots in agricultural excellence. Its favorable climate and infrastructure make it a strategic location for showcasing innovation and attracting international partners.

Through MTC 2025, Green Smile reaffirms its ability to meet the needs of agribusinesses and institutions worldwide, offering customized support for organizing sector-specific events—from content design and strategic communication to logistics and networking. This approach reinforces its core mission: to accelerate the transformation toward high-value agriculture in Morocco and Africa.
