Apple prices up 6–16%, asparagus 8%, red cabbage 17%

The latest market data reveals noticeable price increases in several fresh produce categories when comparing current weekly averages to the previous week. Gala apples recorded a price increase from £1.24/kg to £1.32/kg, marking a £0.08 rise. This reflects a 6% weekly change, indicating a modest but consistent upward trend in this variety's pricing.

A more significant jump was observed in Other late-season apples, with prices climbing from £1.67/kg to £1.94/kg, a £0.27 increase. This translates to a 16% rise, the highest percentage change among the apple varieties listed. This notable price shift suggests increased value for this category within the market over the past week.

In the vegetable sector, asparagus experienced a considerable price increase. The average price rose from £18.58/kg to £20.14/kg, up by £1.56. This represents an 8% change, making asparagus the highest-priced product among the items compared in this analysis. The data reflects a strong demand or limited availability influencing this pricing.

Lastly, red cabbage showed a more moderate increase. The price rose from £0.63/kg to £0.74/kg, a difference of £0.11. Despite its lower absolute value, this change amounts to a 17% increase — the largest percentage change among the four selected products. This indicates a sharp week-on-week price shift for red cabbage within the marketplace.
