U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted over $14.6 million worth of alleged methamphetamine concealed within a shipment of fresh bell peppers and cucumbers.
According to Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, "Our CBP officers continue to use all tools and resources to safeguard our borders by preventing these harmful narcotics from reaching America's streets."

The seizure took place on April 11, when CBP officers at the Pharr cargo facility inspected a tractor-trailer entering from Mexico. The vehicle, which was manifested as carrying fresh produce, was referred for secondary inspection.
Officers conducted a thorough examination using nonintrusive inspection technology and a canine detection team. They discovered 300 packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 1,635.56 pounds (741.88 kg) hidden within the trailer.
CBP's Office of Field Operations (OFO) seized both the narcotics and the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has since launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
