Top Fruit Farm Manager

 

 

 

 

The main purpose of the role is to oversee and manage efficiently, the full-time and seasonal teams’ daily activities. To ensure Crop protection and husbandry are managed effectively. Working to GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) To work in conjunction with the Health and Safety policies for staff and site.

 

Responsibility

  • To carry out instructions given by the senior farms manager and farms admin. Keeping the senior farms manager informed of all / any issues arising.
  • To repair and maintain farm vehicles, and mechanical equipment, working within the Health and Safety parameters. Report any H&S issues through the correct channels.
  • Manage, monitor, and record all work completed by seasonal help during planting, pruning or any other husbandry or harvesting jobs.
  • To manage pesticide application operations and machinery breakdowns. Ordering stock in a timely manner to ensure availability.
  • Identify pests, diseases, weeds, and report to the senior farms manager.
  • Understand the cost of all operations and manage efficiently.
  • To manage Crop Picker for Pesticide use, Husbandry, and daily product yields.

Experience required

  • Extensive experience in large-scale top fruit and cherry farming.
  • Experience in managing teams of up to 200.
  • An agriculture or related qualifications
  • Fluent in English – at least level B1
  • The ability to manage intense operations and experience in working across a variety of departments.
  • Ideally knowledge in BRC.
