Peruvian citrus exports have decreased by 15% to date

So far this season, Peru has exported 86,765 tons of citrus fruits, i.e. 15% less volume than in the same period of the previous season. According to Fresh Fruit, last week, Peru exported 7,126 tons of citrus, “which is 58% less than in the same week last year.”

“The product reached 21 destinations and the three main destinations concentrated 69% of all shipments. The main destinations were the United States, with a 44% share; followed by China, with a 13% share; and the Netherlands, with 12%. It should be noted that, unlike last year, shipments to the North American country decreased considerably, from a 70% share in 2022 to a 44% share this year.

As Fresh Fruit details, Peru shipped 3,144 tons of citrus to the United States, i.e. 3% less than in the previous week and 74% less than in the same week of 2022. Shipments to China amounted to 916 tons, 10% less than in the previous week, but 64% higher than last year. Finally, 861 tons were exported to the Netherlands, which was 5% higher than in the previous week and 12% higher than in the same week of 2022.
