Yunnan's Zhiguan blueberries make their debut in Japan

On April 14, a refrigerated truck carrying fresh Zhiguan blueberries from Pengsheng Yunnan's planting base embarked towards Tokyo, Japan, via a stopover in Fuzhou. This event marked the inaugural entry of Yunnan's Zhiguan blueberries into the Japanese market, alongside being the first instance of fresh blueberries from Yunnan reaching Japan. The shipment, completing its journey in 20 hours, underwent successful plant quarantine inspection by Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and passed pesticide residue tests by the Ministry of Health, Work and Wellbeing. Subsequently, the blueberries were distributed in Tokyo's Ota Market, where they were quickly sold out.

Pengsheng has acquired GlobalG.AP and ISO 22000 certifications to facilitate overseas market access and has collaborated with Zhangzhou Dexing to cater to Japanese consumer preferences. Following successful market entries in Hong Kong and Thailand, Pengsheng aims to expand its footprint in Japan and Southeast Asia, targeting an export volume of approximately 50 metric tons within the next 1 to 2 years.

Currently, air freight is the primary mode of transportation, with plans to transition to large-scale shipping for regular weekly deliveries. Zhiguan blueberries are cultivated across 400 hectares in Yunnan, Liaoning, Shandong, Sichuan, and other regions, contributing to a global planting area of about 1.350 hectares. This coordinated cultivation ensures a stable year-round supply of fresh, high-quality blueberries to both Chinese and international consumers.
