Colombian exports see a rise in the first quarter of 2024

In the initial three months of the year, Colombia witnessed a 2.5% increase in its exports, excluding the mining and energy sectors, with earnings of $4.97 billion USD compared to $4.85 billion USD in the corresponding period of 2023, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism (MinCIT). The volume of these exports also saw a rise, with a 10.5% increase to 2.1 million tons from 1.9 million tons in the first quarter of 2023. The agricultural sector was highlighted as a significant contributor to this growth.

Among the leading the export growth were bananas, Tahiti lemons, and Hass avocados, showcasing increases of 115.5%, 84.9%, 60.3%, 34.7%, and 17.5% respectively.

Among the Colombian regions, Risaralda stood out with a remarkable 69.2% growth in exports, despite contributing only 4.1% to the national total, while Antioquia, accounting for 18.5% of the nation's exports, saw a growth of 4.8%.
