Potato and vegetable growers saw price rises of 11.7% in last 12 months

The Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO) has reported a 73.6% increase in output prices for potato farmers over the 12 months to April 2024. Potato and vegetable growers saw price rises of 11.7%.

The agricultural input price index dropped by 12.6% annually, while the output price index slightly decreased by 0.2%. Monthly comparisons show a 0.5% rise in the output price index and a 0.2% decrease in the input price index for April 2024 compared to March 2024. Electricity prices fell by 22.2%, and feed prices decreased by 16.8% over the year.

The terms of trade increased by 0.7% monthly and by 14.2% annually as of April 2024.
