"Zhenning Honey Plums are on the market, with continuous rainfall affecting their early taste"

Zhenning Honey Plums from Guizhou Province, China, are known for their high sweetness and crisp texture, available on the market for about 30-40 days. The new production season began in mid-June, about 5-10 days later than previous years.

"Due to the late spring cold, Honey Plum production has decreased this year. Additionally, excessive rainfall has affected the plums' taste, resulting in lower Brix levels compared to last year," explained Mr. Qi Fei from Guizhou Huangguoshu Fruit Industry Co., Ltd., which specializes in cultivating and selling Zhenning Honey Plums. "The current harvest price is around ¥70-80/kg, about 15% higher than last year."

"At this stage, we are mainly supplying local end customers directly, with the wholesaler supply chain starting later. The continuous rainfall has slowed the fruit's sugaring process, so the supply chain prefers to begin bulk purchases when the fruit's sweetness and taste stabilize. The weather in the production area has now cleared up. If stable weather continues, the taste will improve when they are available in large quantities, benefiting later sales."

Mr. Qi also noted that last year's Zhenning honey plum production was reduced due to drought. This year's fruit count is estimated to be lower than last year's, but the fruit size is larger, leading to an overall production estimate similar to last year's.

Guizhou Huangguoshu Fruit Industry has over 66 hectares of honey plum planting bases in Zhenning's core production area. Last year, the company sold about 300,000 kilograms of honey plums under its own brand "Misini."
