Central Asian Republics to supply fruits and vegetables to Russian regions

The import of vegetables and fruits to the Rostov region in Russia has increased, as stated by Vladimir Kosov, a specialist from Rosselkhoznadzor. Previously, large batches of vegetables and fruits were supplied to the region by Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt, and Iran. Currently, the leading suppliers are Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

According to Vladimir Kosov, beans, apples, and peaches are being transported from Tajikistan to the Rostov region. Uzbekistan has become the leader in peanut supplies, with half of all peanuts in the region now imported from this country. Locally grown peanuts make up only 10% of the total available on store shelves. Additionally, large quantities of watermelons, onions, raisins, and melons are arriving from Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan exports fruits to the region, with a significant amount of apples.

The expert notes that residents of Rostov prefer imported fruits and vegetables due to their more attractive appearance.
