Celebrating 65 years of kiwifruit in New Zealand

New Zealand's kiwifruit sector marks a 65-year milestone since the renaming of the Chinese gooseberry to kiwifruit, a move spearheaded by Jack Turner of Turner and Growers to enhance marketability. This rebranding effort has solidified New Zealand's status as a leading kiwifruit producer. EPIC Te Puke is organizing festivities on August 31 at Te Puke War Memorial Hall to commemorate this occasion.

The event, supported by sponsors including Zespri, Bennetts Proactive, and others, will open additional seating to the public, offering an opportunity for community and business networking.

The evening will feature entertainment by MC Ben Hurley, a Q&A with BOP Young Growers, and a performance by Te Puke Repertory Society. Tickets are available at Paper Plus Te Puke, priced at $120 individually or $1000 for a table of 10, covering supper and a drink.
