Horticulture crop damage in Andhra's NTR district due to heavy rains

In the wake of recent heavy rains and floods in Andhra Pradesh's NTR district, Horticulture Director Dr. K Srinivasulu has pledged support to the affected farmers, following an assessment of the damage which impacted 5,228 hectares of horticultural crops. During his visit to the flood-affected areas, including Kotikalapudi, Kethanakonda, and Mulapadu villages of Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Dr. Srinivasulu evaluated the destruction of various crops such as cauliflower, chilli, leafy vegetables, and mango and palm oil gardens in Mulapadu village.

Dr. Srinivasulu's inquiries included whether farmers were previously advised on precautions to protect their crops from such natural calamities and reviewed the cultivation costs of the damaged horticultural crops. He emphasized the need for horticulture staff to meticulously document the damage, prepare lists of individual farmers affected, and report their findings. Proposals will be submitted to the government to assist the impacted farmers. The visit saw participation from NTR District Horticultural Officer P. Balaji Kumar, Zonal Horticultural Officers, and other officials, along with local farmers.
