At the WorldFood Moscow 2024 International Fair, an Ecuadorian company was awarded a certification for its organic bananas destined for the Russian market. This certification was issued by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation "Russian Quality System" (Roskachestvo), with TV Brics International Media Network serving as the international information partner. This marks the first instance of foreign-grown bananas receiving Roskachestvo's organic certification, which entails a rigorous two-phase process including documentary review and an on-site production audit with sample collection and laboratory analysis.
Alexander Chumak, Roskachestvo's deputy head, emphasized the importance of this development in enhancing the assortment of organic products available to Russian consumers, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Certification signifies compliance with Russian organic production criteria, allowing these bananas to bear a special state emblem signifying their authenticity and quality. Consequently, Russian consumers can now purchase certified organic bananas from Ecuador, assured of their quality and safety.
Furthermore, a collaboration agreement was signed between TV Brics's CEO, Janna Tolstikova, and Maksim Protasov, Head of Roskachestvo, on 16 May 2024, during the XV International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024."
