About 350 professionals attended the Persimmon Group's First Kaki Congress

Anecoop recently held the Persimmon Group's First Kaki Congress in Carlet, one of the main kaki-producing towns in Spain. Miguel Barrachina, the Regional Minister for Agriculture, Water, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Generalitat Valenciana, attended the opening ceremony. Laura Sáez, the mayor of Carlet, was in charge of the closing ceremony. The event was co-sponsored by Cajamar, Ribercamp, Caixa Rural d 'Algemesí, Coarval, Engrupo, and Agriconsa.

The Congress was mainly aimed at members of the cooperatives that make up Anecoop's Persimmon Group. Its goal was to take an in-depth look at this crop's production, commercial, and promotional situation, reviewing the technical aspects of its cultivation, the evolution of commercial management, and the communication and marketing actions carried out to promote it, explaining the group's achievements and projects. Experts from the different fields of the kaki value chain participated in the event, attended by nearly 350 professionals, including producers, researchers, cooperative and Anecoop professionals, institutional representatives, and representatives from various associations related to the sector.

During the inauguration, the President of the Persimmon Group, Álvaro Nogués, highlighted the fundamental role played by the cooperatives in the evolution of kaki: "Cooperatives invested and believed in this crop when it was just a promise, and the success of its development led us to launch Anecoop's Persimmon Group in 2009, which has unquestionably contributed to the commercial development and expansion of the product in a multitude of markets."

The Persimmon Group, which is made up of 22 cooperatives producing Diospyros kaki 'Rojo Brillante' - Persimmon, was created to concentrate the offer and homogenizing production, quality, and commercial and promotional programming criteria, to help boost sales and open markets. The success of this project translates into an export quota of domestically produced kaki that exceeds 50%. Anecoop is the leading producer and marketer of kaki in Europe and, for the professional channel, the Persimmon Group's management is a guarantee of optimum service and a product of unbeatable quality.

According to the President of Anecoop, Alejandro Monzón, the success of kaki persimmon development lies in "the high level of professionalism and specialization of the entire chain, from research to production, post-harvest quality, warehouse work, sales planning, and product promotion," all of which is the result of a desire to innovate.

Persimon is the trademark of the Kaki Ribera del Xúquer Denomination of Origin, which was created to identify the native Rojo Brillante kaki variety. When ripe, this variety is firm and hard, has a sweet flavor, and orange color.
