Strategic global collaboration formed in packaging industry

SPI and NNZ announced a strategic global collaboration for packaging solutions for fruit and vegetables in Europe, South Africa, and North America. The partnership combines SPI's global patent in packaging with NNZ's distribution network and market understanding to deliver to the global produce market.

Q-Bic® is a new way of packaging individual units within consumer packaging, by putting 6 pyramid-shaped trays together into one cube with less than 10 percent air.

The collaboration will result in a new generation of packaging products that meet the increasing demands for quality, durability, and environmental friendliness. The aim is to market and offer packaging solutions that improve the durability of fruits and vegetables, reduce costs and food waste, and meet the strictest environmental standards.

Key points of the collaboration include:

  • Development of products: Combine SPI's patent with NNZ's market insight to develop packaging products that optimize produce handling, extend shelf life, and increase capacity with up to 2.5x more consumer packaged products on the pallet, truck, or container.
  • Sustainable solutions: Implementation of environmentally friendly packaging solutions with reduced material use, waste, logistics, and carbon footprint, in line with both companies' commitment to sustainability.
  • Global distribution: Utilise NNZ's sales and distribution network in Europe, South Africa, and North America to ensure the new packaging solutions are available to customers across continents.
  • Customer-specific solutions: Offer customized packaging solutions that meet the requirements of produce producers and distributors.

Another look at Q-Bic.

"By combining our patented innovation with NNZ's sales and distribution expertise, we look forward to providing solutions that not only meet but exceed our customers' expectations," says Bjørn Sloreby, Europe director at Smart Packaging Industries AS.

"This collaboration allows us to offer even better products and services to our customers and strengthen our position as a supplier of packaging solutions," says Len Boot, CEO of the Royal NNZ Group BV.

"With Q-Bic, we can offer our customers even better solutions to handle the demanding logistics and transport conditions," says Patrick Boot, CFO for North America. "With long distances and varying climates, we can now offer packaging that not only protects products better but also reduces costs and improves product durability."

The collaboration between SPI and NNZ is a step towards a more efficient, sustainable, and customer-oriented future for the packaging industry, manufacturers, and brand owners.
