Georgia's labour shortage poses major challenge

Gela Khanishvili, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, has highlighted that the country's main issue is a labour shortage, which is making it more difficult to harvest crops. He emphasized that the shortage affects all sectors of the economy, including construction, services, and agriculture.

Finding workers is becoming increasingly difficult, creating significant challenges for agricultural producers.

In addition to the labour shortage, Khanishvili noted a sharp rise in wages. While the daily wage used to be 8.2-9.8 EUR, it has now increased to 19.6-22.9 EUR. Although government programs, such as low-interest loans, provide support to farmers, the labour shortage makes it harder to take full advantage of these programs.
