A blossoming future for Kashmir's orchard economy

The apple orchards in Ganderbal, central Kashmir, are experiencing a peak in harvest activity. Local farmers are reporting a robust crop, with satisfaction in the yield's quality and quantity. Ganderbal is gaining recognition for its apple production, adding to its repertoire of cherries, grapes, strawberries, and watermelons. Notable apple-growing areas include Batwina, Zazna, Kangan, and Lar.

Ghulam Hassan Lone, an apple grower from Batwina, noted the excellent production and strong market demand for this year's harvest. According to Lone, Ganderbal's apples are gaining popularity across India. The apple industry in Ganderbal is enhancing livelihoods, contributing to the region's horticulture and agriculture sectors.
