The Mekong Delta's Tra Vinh province has been recognized for its expanding coconut industry, with nine designated growing areas covering over 1,240 hectares and two packaging facilities now authorized to export fresh coconuts to China. This development follows the approval from China's General Administration of Customs (GACC), marking a notable step in the province's agricultural export capabilities. The areas receiving export codes include locales within Cau Ke, Cang Long, and Chau Thanh districts, showcasing a wide geographic distribution of qualified farming zones.
In addition to the farming areas, the Zaria Xanh Joint Stock Company and the Ecotech Vietnam Renewables Energy Joint Stock Company's branch have met the criteria for exporting coconuts, further enhancing Tra Vinh's position in the international market. The province, home to nearly 27,400 hectares of coconut plantations and a production volume of approximately 444 million coconuts annually, stands as the second-largest coconut producer in Vietnam. This achievement is supported by the efforts of around 90,000 households.
Looking ahead, Tra Vinh is seeking to broaden its export opportunities by proposing the addition of eight more coconut farming areas for export code approval by the GACC. These efforts underscore the province's commitment to leveraging its agricultural assets for international trade expansion.
