Over 20 tons of contaminated grapes from Tajikistan destroyed in Chelyabinsk Region, Russia

In early November, a significant shipment of contaminated fruit was imported from Tajikistan into the Chelyabinsk region. Inspections revealed that 16.9 tons of apples were infected with the California scale, and 20.2 tons of grapes were affected by dodder.

The responsible entity decided to destroy the grape shipment to prevent the spread of California scale, as reported by the press service of the Ural Interregional Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor.

The apples were released into circulation, as this type of scale does not transfer with the fruit.

Between November 1 and 10, the Chelyabinsk region imported over 1,700 tons of vegetables and fruits, as well as more than 161,000 cut flowers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan.
