The phytosanitary protocols for exporting Peruvian mandarin to Vietnam have been established

The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced that, following a technical meeting, the necessary phytosanitary protocols to export fresh Peruvian mandarins to Vietnam have been established. This represents a great opportunity for Peru given that this Asian country has a potential market of around 100 million consumers.

"The National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa), a strategic arm of Midagri, must continue to manage access to new markets to increase trade opportunities for Peruvian producers and so our agro-exports continue to grow," said the head of the sector, Ángel Manero Campos.

Senasa also spoke about the progress made in the negotiations for blueberry access to the Vietnamese market, which is in the pest risk analysis stage. According to the Vietnamese delegation, "this will be a faster process" because the requirements to export mandarins have already been established.

The phytosanitary authority of Vietnam will publish the agreed requirements in its official journal and SENASA will communicate the list of production sites and packing plants that may start exporting mandarins to this Asian country.
