In October 2024, vegetable imports from China to Kyrgyzstan surged fourteenfold in dollar terms compared to October 2023, according to data from China's Main Customs Administration.
The imports amounted to $3 million for the month.
Physical imports increased thirteenfold, reaching 3,000 tons.
A total of 30 types of vegetables were imported, compared to just 7 types in October of the previous year.
The bulk of vegetable imports from China consisted of peppers, garlic, tomatoes, broccoli, celery, lettuce leaves, spinach, pumpkins, cucumbers, and eggplants.
