Silal partners with China's Shouguang to boost UAE agriculture and food security

Silal, a prominent agri-food and technology entity in Abu Dhabi, has established a strategic alliance with Shouguang Vegetable Industry Group, a leading organization in China specializing in vegetable seed breeding and the counter-seasonal vegetable industry chain. This collaboration is set to enhance innovation, production efficiency, and supply capacity for agricultural products within the UAE.

The formalization of this partnership took place in Abu Dhabi amidst the Global Food Week, signed by Salmeen Al Ameri, CEO of Silal, and Ming Yang, Founder of Shouguang Food and Agricultural Industries Group. The event was witnessed by prominent figures including Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE's Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of ADAFSA.

Key initiatives of this collaboration include the launch of a seed development program and the creation of a greenhouse demonstration park. This park will leverage the 'Shouguang Model' to exhibit state-of-the-art greenhouse technology and practices such as seedling cultivation and grafting techniques, aimed at benefiting UAE farmers and the broader region.

"Silal, as a leading agri-food company in the UAE, is committed to optimizing production and ensuring food accessibility. Our partnership with Shouguang Vegetable Industry Group is a key step in enhancing food security, supporting local farmers, and delivering high-quality products to our community," stated Salmeen Alameri.

Ming Yang remarked, "Shouguang Vegetable Industry Group is proud to partner with Silal to combine Chinese agricultural expertise with the company's vision to enhance UAE's food systems. By addressing industry challenges and driving innovation, we are building a resilient and efficient food supply chain that will meet the evolving market's needs."

This strategic initiative underscores the commitment of both parties to lead in agri-tech advancements and sustainable growth, aligning with Silal's objectives to innovate in agriculture, invest in new technologies, and develop agri-tech solutions for UAE farmers.
