Over the past 25 years, Kiku GmbH has been the driving force behind numerous successful apple varieties such as Crimson Snow, ISAAQ, Red Moon, Kiku and SWING. The variety manager officially celebrated its 25th anniversary at this year's Interpoma in Bolzano and launched a new proposition.
The experience gained in almost three decades finds a logical and strategic extension in an activity that serves premium apple growing. The name that Jürgen Braun thought up for this proposition derives from the three elements that form its backbone: apples (A for Apple); development (DE for Development) and management (MA for Management). Here comes ADEMA, a reliable and experienced partner for developing new apple varieties and devising effective marketing strategies.
"I have imagined an organisational chart," explains Jürgen Braun, "that explains more clearly the three business units into which ADEMA is divided: Club Varieties, Commodities and Services. In the Club Varieties segment, ADEMA manages the two globally-recognised apple brands KIKU and ISAAQ (the 'snack apple'). Other apple selections such as Golden Parsi da rosa, KI2586, Alnova and KING Fujis are offered in the Commodities segment. Last but not least, our range of services includes the research and development of new apple varieties, branding, and the creation of marketing and distribution concepts."
New apple varieties are rigorously tested in ADEMA's global network thanks to its long-standing activity in the sector. Furthermore, they are selected through a very strict approval process before reaching the market. "In this way, we make sure that end consumers only find top quality products on the shelves and that growers are remunerated for their efforts in sustainable cultivation.Throughout the entire process, we are constantly assessing the potential of the variety, registering the brand and developing a marketing concept and sales plan."
Jürgen Braun is keen to emphasise the global nature of ADEMA as a strategic and professional partner, able to support companies interested in developing premium apples: "We not only boast specific expertise, but also transparency and integrity. Through a vertically integrated approach, each step is carefully planned, right up to the placement of the apples on the shelves. This process also includes the creation of technical manuals for growers, as well as global marketing and management strategies."
ADEMA's customers include breeders, fruit nurseries, fruit growers, cooperatives, distribution organisations. The mission is to introduce new ideas, methods and products that create value and improve existing processes: "Our philosophy is to strive for excellence, far exceeding the expectations of our partners and customers. Authenticity and integrity are the basis of the relationships we build, always having clear in mind that the success of an apple is the result of work done with passion, fun and a sense of deep fulfilment."
