Adopt a SugarBee tree and explore year-round apple growing

This holiday season, the Adopt-A-SugarBee Tree program offers a gifting opportunity for individuals, families, or classrooms to engage in the year-round process of cultivating SugarBee apples from Washington State orchards.

Adopters will experience the winter months of tree restoration, followed by the spring bloom. The journey includes pollination, pruning, and fruit development, culminating in the fall harvest. Participants will gain insights into the challenges and rewards of apple cultivation.

Adopt-A-Treeā„¢ is a new program launched this year. Starting with the SugarBee adoption opportunity, the program will expand to include other apple varieties as well as pear and cherry trees.

The program includes an official adoption certificate, monthly orchard updates narrated by growers from orchards in North Central Washington, and packages that may include shipments of SugarBee apples, memorabilia, and updates throughout the year.

SugarBee apples are known for their sweet, crisp, and juicy qualities. Developed through natural cross-pollination between a mystery variety and a Honeycrisp blossom, these apples have a honey-colored interior and a distinctive crunch.

"We are excited to provide an educational journey into apple growing, creating connections with the land, growers, and the fruit itself," said Julie DeJarnatt, VP of Brand Strategy with SugarBee. "This program offers an opportunity to explore the world of apple cultivation and connect with farming families."

Adopt-a-SugarBee Tree packages range from $150 to $1,000, with an option for classrooms to participate in activities from any location in the United States.

The Holiday Bee package, priced at $225, includes a certificate of adoption, a plush, an online grower meeting, regular video updates, and a delivery of a dozen SugarBee apples. Orders must be placed online by December 16 to ensure holiday delivery.

"Share the experience of adopting a SugarBee tree and watch it grow and produce fruit, all from your home," added DeJarnatt.
