Dillen Langenberg,

"Despite high prices, first shelled walnuts sell out quickly"

On Friday, the first California walnuts in shells arrived at Tovano. "And they were sold out pretty quickly too," says Dillen Langenberg. According to the nut merchant, Diamond walnuts meet a demand year after year. "The craze of the past has waned a bit, but customers are still eagerly waiting for them. After all, the Diamond stamp is often regarded as a seal of quality; with it, we are the first and the only ones."

"This year's harvest is somewhat smaller, and prices are therefore high, but despite this, the demand for walnuts in shell remains strong," says Dillen. Although Tovano supplies a wide range of customers annually, including retailers, fresh produce exporters, processors, wholesalers, and itinerant traders, he notes that walnuts in shells are particularly popular in the fresh produce segment. Tovano receives several shipments every month.

"Christmas demand is remarkably strong this year, and the majority of walnuts in shell are sold before Christmas. All the nuts in the shell are booming. Besides walnuts, we also offer hazelnuts, pecans, and almonds in shell. We receive walnuts in shells in the familiar 25 kg boxes but also offer hazelnuts and almonds in shells in smaller 400-gram packages. The pecans in shell are also available in 300-gram bags."
